VINTAGE TURKISH POSTAGE STAMP
Out of circulation. Single stamp
65 kurus stamp printed in 1956 by Guzel Sanatlar Matbaasi (Fine Arts Printingpress) to honor the 7 medals (3 gol, 2 silver and 2 bronze) by Turkish wrestlers in the Melbourne Summer Olympics in 1956. The stamp shows two wrestlers in competition, the olympic symbol of the 5 interlocking circles, and a white dove (signifying the peace among nations). It is drawn in red over grey background.
Kurus was worth 100th of a Turkish Lira (TL) before the removal of the 6 zeros from the end to start the new lira. It has been long out of circulation.

Item condition: There is a crease on one corner. It has a light inkmark on one side.
